Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Wednesday! Hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday.

Mrs. Gonzalez, Mrs. Paolicelli, and I am so excited to see everyone today! We can't wait for you to share all the things that you have been doing.

This blog is to help all of you through this time at home. Please remember these are all suggestions for you to have in one location; if you find, that you need additional resources for your child. Our key word is Flexible and that is very important when working with young children. Remember to refer to previous posts to repeat an activity that was a favorite. I will continue to send a morning email each school day with links to this page, my video, along with Mrs. Cosgrove's morning message. It is important to email me your child's attendance, by 10am, each day so I may record it. Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces! I am only an email away from answering any questions or concerns that may arise.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Suggested Activities

Very Hungry Caterpillar Read Aloud

Here a few links to the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, that I read today.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar - an animated film

Very Hungry Caterpillar Name Craft

Trace and or cut out enough colored circles. Your child may cut out the circles. Have your child write 1 letter of their name on a circle. Mix up the circles. Have your child arrange the circles to spell out their name correctly. If needed, write your child's name on another sheet of paper and have them find/match the letters to spell out their name. Add  eyes, legs, mouth to caterpillar. Please send me a picture of your name caterpillar.

Extension -

Children with less than 5 letters in their name may add additional circles without letters

Use two colors and have your child pattern the circles, ie. blue-green-blue-green-

Patterns

Use any items that are handy such as toys, blocks, coins, etc to make patterns. Great activity to use the unifix cubes that were sent home in your child's tote. Start with simple patterns and then have your child continue the pattern. Increase the difficulty of the pattern as your child understands the concept. The link below is a video that your child and you will enjoy before starting this activity.

Movement

Name Simon Says

Have your child write their name on a sheet of paper. Review the letters in their name. Once they seem to remember the letters, play Simon Says.....

Simon says jump up and down if you have an A in your name

Simon says clap your hands if you have a H in your name

Move Like....

Have your child move like various animals as you call out the letters in their name....

If you have a F in your name move like a frog

If you have a S in your name move like a snake

You may show your child the name sheet to assist them in remembering the letters in their name as well as you may ask them to point/name the letter before acting out the movement. Add in the beginning sound of each letter to reinforce letter/sound recognition
