Happy Thursday!

Mrs. Gonzalez, Mrs. Paolicelli, and I loved seeing so many of you yesterday! You all made wonderful signs showing how much you appreciate Mrs. Gonzalez and Mrs. Paolicelli! I know they loved each one.

This blog is to help all of you through this time at home. Please remember these are all suggestions for you to have in one location; if you find, that you need additional resources for your child. Our key word is Flexible and that is very important when working with young children. Remember to refer to previous posts to repeat an activity that was a favorite. I will continue to send a morning email each school day with links to this page, my video, along with Ms. Cosgrove's morning message. It is important to email me your child's attendance, by 10am, each day so I may record it. Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces! I am only an email away from answering any questions or concerns that may arise.

Have a Terrific Thursday!

Suggested Activities

Brown Bear, Brown Bear Read ALoud

Here a few links to the story, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?, that I read today.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear Paper Bag Puppet

Draw the various shapes to create your Brown Bear puppet. You may have them trace and cut out the construction paper circles or you can have them already prepped for them to glue. Once the Brown Bear puppet has been constructed let the kids decorate their puppet -however they want. Your child should do as much of the activity as possible independently.

If you do not have all the supplies, no worries - use any materials that you do have on hand. No brown paper - color paper brown. No paper bag - make the bear face. While working with this activity, you are encouraging language, academic, as well as motor skills. Ask how many circles? What color? What do we glue next? Refer back to the book so your child can retell/recall the story.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear Count and Sort

Have your child recall the different animals from the book. Reinforce the color of each animal. Place various colored objects into a bowl. This will work great with legos, mms, skittles, or fruit loops. Use what you have - adjust this to how it may work with the materials you have available to you. Don't have all the colors, change it up. Make up a new colored animal. Remember - we are Flexible. Have your child sort out the objects by color, count out each color, graph the objects by color, compare the the graph... which is the most? least? same?
