Have a Terrific Tuesday!
Please note it is important to keep in mind your child's IEP goals. These skills may be addressed through the provided activities as well as the very natural everyday interactions such as daily routines and play. Play with your child as play is a child's work. All areas of development - cognitive, social/emotional, motor, and speech/language skills are achieved through everyday activities including play.
These are all suggestions for you to have in one location; if you find, that you need additional resources for your child. Our key word is Flexible and that is very important when working with young children. If you are in need of other resources, please just contact me. I will continue to send a morning email each school day with links to this page, my video, along with Ms. Cosgrove's morning message. It is important to email me your child's attendance, by 10am, each day so I may record it.
Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces!
Theme: Earth Day
Letter of the Week: Xx
Suggested Activities
Read Aloud - I Stink
X is for Xylophone Craft

Trace/Cut a large X shape or write it. Add colored rectangle shapes - cut out or written. If using cut out shaped rectangles, glue to X.
Recycling Sorting Activity

Make a recycling sorting center. Have your child sort items by category - paper, plastic, glass, tin. Matching similar items is a way to have your child sort accordingly.

Letter Xx Weekly Activities
Letter Xx and alphabet songs
This is a 15 minute complete alphabet movement song - Please Try!
Letter Xx - Mystery Box
Find and place 5-7 items/pictures that begin with the letter Xx. Have your child label each item/picture - talk about the item/picture - place items/pictures in box. Have your child recall the items that have been placed into the box. Repeat this activity daily with your child. Some items/pictures will be recalled easily - others may require a clue. Make this into a game with your child. This is an activity that we do during our circle time and was enjoyed by all.
Sensory Writing
Write letter Xx as well as other letters and numbers in shaving cream, rice, sand, or flour. Any substance will work to give your child that sensory input when writing letters.
Pollution Sensory Activity

This looks gross, but I promise it’s not! Grab a plastic container. Take a few food wrappers and wash them. Next, add some clean plastic cups, straws, paper towels and plastic silverware. If you have any, add some plastic river/ocean animal toys. Finally, make the water “polluted” using a tea bag. Have your child "clean" the water and talk with them about how "polluted" the water is for us and animals.
Next, fill the sensory container with “clean” water and items like rocks and river/ocean plastic toys. Talk with your child to compare the two types of water. This activity not only encourages sensory play but teaches your child about the impact trash has on our environment and the importance of recycling.so students could compare the two
