Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! The weather is definitely getting nicer so it was great to get outside. Today is scheduled to be beautiful!

This evening the board of education will be voting on our new calendar. I will send you a link to the new calendar when it is posted.

In organizing the planned activities for the week on this blog, I will focus on a theme, letter of the week, and numbers 1-10. This blog is to help all of you through this time at home. These are all suggestions for you to have in one location; if you find, that you need additional resources for your child. Our key word is Flexible and that is very important when working with young children. If you are in need of other resources, please just contact me. Remember to refer to previous posts to repeat an activity that was a favorite. I will continue to send a morning email each school day with links to this page, my video, along with Ms. Cosgrove's morning message. It is important to email me your child's attendance, by 10am, each day so I may record it. Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces! Theme: Easter/Bunny

Letter of the Week: Vv

Suggested Activities

Pete the Cat - Big Easter Adventure Read Aloud

Here a link to the story, Pete the Cat - Big Easter Adventure, I read today.

Egg Crafts

Cotton Ball Painting - Trace an egg shape on to paper. Have your child cut out the egg. Place a cotton ball on the end of a clothespin. Dip into paint and decorate the paper egg.

Paper Strip Egg - With a bit of preparation(you tracing an egg shape and lines for strips) your child can do most of this on their own. For this activity, I write lines for the strips all to one long size, and trim them later – much easier than trying to get your child to place the right size in the right spot! Encourage your child to cut out their own paper egg and strips – it’s great fine motor practice!

If you have another egg craft idea that you have materials to do, please do that with your child. The goal is to encourage fine motor skills.

Egg Number Match

Write numbers and dots on plastic eggs - no plastic eggs - make paper eggs. Write numbers

1- 10 on one half of eggs, write dots on the other half of eggs. Have your child match numeral to the dots. Extensions - if using plastic eggs, put matching number of small items inside the egg. Mix number of items up so your child has to place the correct number of items into the eggs. Hide eggs(plastic or paper) around house, have your child search for the eggs and then match the eggs.

Letter Vv Activities

Letter Vv song - Jack Hartmann

Letter Vv - Mystery Box

Find and place 5-7 items/pictures that begin with the letter Vv. Have your child label each item/picture - talk about the item/picture - place items/pictures in box. Have your child recall the items that have been placed into the box. Repeat this activity daily with your child. Some items/pictures will be recalled easily - others may require a clue. Make this into a game with your child. This is an activity that we do during our circle time and was enjoyed by all.

Spoon Race

Set up a bowl of plastic eggs, small balls, cotton balls, jelly beans, etc. - anything that may fit on a spoon and an empty bowl across the room. Have your child place an item from the bowl on the spoon and race across the room to drop the item into the bucket. The goal is to race between the two bowls as quickly as possible, but without spilling the items!
