This blog is to help all of you through this time at home. These are all suggestions for you to have in one location; if you find, that you need additional resources for your child. Our key word is Flexible and that is very important when working with young children. If you are in need of other resources, please just contact me.
Please note it is important to keep in mind your child's IEP goals. These skills may be addressed through the provided activities as well as the very natural everyday interactions such as daily routines and play. Play with your child as play is a child's work. All areas of development - cognitive, social/emotional, motor, and speech/language skills are achieved through everyday activities including play.
Remember learning is a process! Please do not rush through activities and to refer to previous posts to repeat an activity that was a favorite. It is great to repeat activities as our friends learn through practice of repeated activities. I will continue to send a morning email each school day with links to this page, my video, along with Ms. Cosgrove's morning message. It is important to email me your child's attendance, by 10am, each day so I may record it. Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces!
Theme: Easter/Bunny

V is for Vase Craft

Draw a large block "V"or have your child write a "V" - tracing around the outside to make into a block "V" shape. Add green rectangle stems, leaves and flowers to the “V” to create the flowers for the vase. Please have your child to as much as possible to encourage fine motor skills.
Egg Number Game

Draw an egg shape on a piece of paper. Write number 1-6, 1-10, 1-12, 1-20 - you will know the set that works for your child. Write numbers on cards and have your child match the number by coloring the corresponding number on the egg sheet. You could also use uno cards, playing cards, or dice to play this game. Make several so you or other children may play with your child to encourage turn taking skills.
Letter Vv Weekly Activities
Letter Vv and alphabet songs
Letter Vv - Mystery Box
Find and place 5-7 items/pictures that begin with the letter Vv. Have your child label each item/picture - talk about the item/picture - place items/pictures in box. Have your child recall the items that have been placed into the box. Repeat this activity daily with your child. Some items/pictures will be recalled easily - others may require a clue. Make this into a game with your child. This is an activity that we do during our circle time and was enjoyed by all.
Sensory Writing
Write letter Vv as well as other letters and numbers in shaving cream, rice, sand, or flour. Any substance will work to give your child that sensory input when writing letters.
Music/Movement
Egg Hunt
Hide eggs for your child to find. Have your child act out movements while searching for the eggs - hop like a bunny, fly like a bird, etc. Have your child label the color of the eggs, count the eggs, sort by color, size, etc. when the eggs are found. If you child is having trouble finding some of the eggs, give verbal clues to assist your child in the hunt. Great activity to be outside, if the weather permits.
