This blog is to help all of you through this time at home. These are all suggestions for you to have in one location; if you find, that you need additional resources for your child. Our key word is Flexible and that is very important when working with young children. If you are in need of other resources, please just contact me.

Please note it is important to keep in mind your child's IEP goals. These skills may be addressed through the provided activities as well as the very natural everyday interactions such as daily routines and play. Play with your child as play is a child's work. All areas of development - cognitive, social/emotional, motor, and speech/language skills are achieved through everyday activities including play.

Remember learning is a process! Please do not rush through activities and to refer to previous posts to repeat an activity that was a favorite. It is great to repeat activities as our friends learn through practice of repeated activities. I will continue to send a morning email each school day with links to this page, my video, along with Ms. Cosgrove's morning message. It is important to email me your child's attendance, by 10am, each day so I may record it. Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces!

Egg Counting Number Match

You will need construction paper or index cards, crayons/markers, scissors and a hole punch for this actvity. Draw dotted line egg (oval) shapes - have your child trace and cut out egg (oval) shapes from the paper. The heavier paper is sturdier and less likely to fold over or bend while little hands are holding it. After you have cut enough egg shapes, take a marker and write different numbers on the paper eggs.  The numbers chosen will depend on your child’s skill level.  You can repeat numbers to reinforce number recognition practice too! It’s time to crack those eggs!  The object of the activity is to punch the correct number of holes on to each egg! To practice counting accurately, help your child at first.  Punch the hole and count.  Counting in a rhythm helps keep the one to one correspondence accurate. Your child may not correctly identify their numbers yet, you can help!  Identify the number and have your child count until he reaches the number.  Then have your child punch the same number of holes in the paper egg while counting out loud.

Letter Vv - Mystery Box

Find and place 5-7 items/pictures that begin with the letter Vv. Have your child label each item/picture - talk about the item/picture - place items/pictures in box. Have your child recall the items that have been placed into the box. Repeat this activity daily with your child. Some items/pictures will be recalled easily - others may require a clue. Make this into a game with your child. This is an activity that we do during our circle time and was enjoyed by all.

Sensory Writing

Write letter Vv as well as other letters and numbers in shaving cream, rice, sand, or flour. Any substance will work to give your child that sensory input when writing letters.
