Hello Preschool Friends and Families,
Happy Second Week of Flexible Learning! The weekend was quiet in my house. I did get out with Zoey again for some fresh air. It is definitely helping me to be outside. Did you get outside? What were some of the things that you did this past weekend? I am missing our Monday morning CircleTime chat about our weekends.
You all did a great job last week and I am so proud of all that you are doing while we are home. It was so much fun seeing some of you on Friday through FaceTime and Google Meet. I plan on meeting with all of you this week. Families, please send me an email stating a few times that will work for a virtual meeting with my friends and you.
This blog is to help all of you through this time at home. Please remember these are all just suggestions for you to have in one location if you find, that you need to additional resources for your child.
I will continue to send a morning email each school day with a links to this page, my video, along with Mrs. Cosgrove's morning message. Please continue to email me your pictures. I love seeing your faces!
Remember that I am only an email away from answering any questions or concerns that may arise. Enjoy your day!
Suggested Activities
Goop
This is a great messy sensory activity! We made this in class so your child may remember.
Ingredients:
2 cups cornstarch
1 cup water
food coloring, optional
If you want to make a smaller amount just use 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part water.
How to Make Goop
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Mix 2 cups of cornstarch to 1 cup of water into a bowl. Mix the cornstarch and water until your goop is formed.
2. If you find the mixture is a little too watery and not forming into a solid when you pull the goop out of your bowl then add more cornstarch. If you find the mixture is not dripping like a liquid, add a little more water. Just keep experimenting until you find the right consistency.
Tip: If you would like to color your goop, add your food coloring to your water and then mix with the cornstarch.
Read, Read, Read!
Your child loves when I read to them in class. I am sure they love when you read to them, too!
Epic - Online Library - Books and Videos
I sent an email to each of you of you to join our class on Epic - an online library of books and videos. The site will provide a fabulous source of books while our schools and libraries are closed. The books have various formats read a louds, videos, or an online book that you read to your child. Please browse through all the offerings and give me feedback on the books my friends are enjoying while away from our classroom.
Music/Movement
GoNoodle is a fabulous site that I use in the classroom with my friends. The site is divided into three areas - Discover - Categories - Channels. The class really enjoy the Flow and KooKooKangaRoo channels.
